Medical Interests:

Dr. Muna Osman is a doctorate-prepared nurse practitioner with over 20 years of experience in
healthcare. A Somali-American mother and first-generation refugee, she arrived in the U.S. 24
years ago with her one-year-old daughter.
Muna is a dedicated advocate against Female Genital Cutting (FGC), drawing from her personal
experiences as a survivor. Her early advocacy ignited a lifelong commitment to educating
clinicians on the health impacts of FGC, culminating in her capstone project focused on this
critical issue. She has participated in the Office of Women’s Health roundtable conference on
FGC in the U.S.
As the founder of Holistic Family Care Clinic and a co-founder of the WA State Coalition to End
FGM/C, Muna works tirelessly to improve maternity care for Somali women in Seattle. Her
advocacy extends to refugees and individuals with limited English proficiency, leveraging her
fluency in Arabic, Somali, and English to ensure they receive the care they deserve.
Muna’s work aims to challenge cultural norms surrounding FGC and promote education,
ultimately striving for a future free from its harmful effects. Through her dedication, she aspires
to foster healthier, more inclusive communities.
