Location: 5803 N. Levee Rd E – Tacoma, WA 98424

Community members are invited to an evening of storytelling, history, and reflection at a special film screening and book signing event featuring Honorary Author Ramona Bennett, a respected leader and advocate for the Puyallup Tribe.

The evening will begin from 5:00 to 6:30 PM with an author talk by Ramona Bennett, who will share insights from her powerful book, Fighting for the Puyallup Tribe. Through her words, Bennett reflects on the Tribe’s long fight for sovereignty, fishing rights, and self-determination, offering personal perspectives rooted in resilience, leadership, and community strength.

From 6:30 to 7:45 PM, attendees will watch the documentary Fish War, a film that chronicles the historic Fish Wars of the Pacific Northwest and the Native leaders who stood up for treaty-protected fishing rights. The film provides important historical context and highlights the courage and persistence of Tribal communities in protecting their way of life.

The evening will conclude with a book signing from 7:45 to 8:30 PM, giving attendees an opportunity to meet Ramona Bennett, ask questions, and have copies of Fighting for the Puyallup Tribe signed.

To make the evening even more welcoming, hotdogs, popcorn, and beverages will be provided.

This event offers a meaningful opportunity to learn, reflect, and honor the stories that continue to shape the Puyallup Tribe and future generations.
