Construction Coming to PTHA

September 15, 2025

We’d like to share some important updates on upcoming and ongoing construction at PTHA:

UPCOMING STORM DRAIN WORK: Parking & Access for Pharmacy Patients

Storm drain work is scheduled to begin September 17 and will continue into the week of September 22. As a result, the lower south parking lot and gate will be closed for the duration of the project.

To ensure continued access to the pharmacy and other services during this time, patients and delivery drivers will be directed to use the Residency entrance. Clear signage will be posted, and staff will be available to help guide patients as needed.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this necessary infrastructure work to improve site safety and drainage.

If you have any questions or need assistance with access during this time, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

UPCOMING SOIL MITIGATION:  Parking & Traffic Disruptions Around Kwawachee Building

The next phase of construction on our new office building is scheduled to start in September. Expect abatement work activity, traffic disruptions, and some unavailable parking spaces, as we continue making more space for patient care.

Asbestos Abatement
As you may have seen in our previous communications, preliminary soil sampling of the building site indicated the presence of asbestos deep underground. Immediate steps were taken to protect the safety of our staff, patients, Elders at the House of Respect, and the wider community. Environmental experts have confirmed there are no concerns about airborne exposure or water contamination. Out of abundance of caution, we’ve brought in an industrial hygienist to guide these next steps in mitigation.

*As with all construction projects, timelines and closure boundaries are subject to change. Please use caution, remain safety-minded in the area at all times, and follow all posted signs and directions from construction staff.

PSE RELOCATING GAS LINE: August 8 – 15 – Partial Disruption to Duct Cho St.

Construction of the new office building at PTHA is about to begin!

In preparation for construction, Puget Sound Energy will be on-site August 8 – August 15, to relocate the gas line using directional drilling. This will involve traffic disruptions, sidewalk closures, and no parking on Duct Cho Street. No Parking Signs will be installed on August 6.

Asbestos abatement will begin shortly after the gas line drilling is complete. Out of abundance of caution, we’re bringing in an industrial hygienist to guide these next steps in mitigation.

We’re excited to get started on the new office building expansion off the Kwawachee building, that will help us meet the growing demand for care by providing more space for patients and enabling us the possibility to explore new healthcare offerings.
